Relief for Caregivers of Children Receiving Behavioral Health Services
Crossroads Community’s Respite Care Program provides an out-of-home overnight respite as a break for the child and caregiver. Respite is provided in homes licensed by the Department of Social Services or Mentor Maryland throughout the five mid-shore counties.
Respite offers temporary relief to the primary caregiver, reducing the stress of caring for a child receiving behavioral health services.
Respite providers receive training in providing services for children with behavioral health needs and are provided with a Respite Care Plan unique to each child.
Respite Care is a planned and pre-authorized service. It is NOT an emergency service.
Eligibility
- Children under age 18, who are receiving behavioral health services and are living with a parent or guardian.
- Services are provided at no cost to individuals with Medical Assistance.
Referral Criteria
Anyone may initiate the referral, however, all referrals must be approved and signed by a behavioral health provider.
For information, contact the Respite Coordinator at (410) 758-3050, ext. 1040.
