Respite Care Program

Relief for Caregivers of Children Receiving Behavioral Health Services

Crossroads Community’s Respite Care Program provides an out-of-home overnight respite as a break for the child and caregiver. Respite is provided in homes licensed by the Department of Social Services or Mentor Maryland throughout the five mid-shore counties.

Respite offers temporary relief to the primary caregiver, reducing the stress of caring for a child receiving behavioral health services.

Respite providers receive training in providing services for children with behavioral health needs and are provided with a Respite Care Plan unique to each child.

Respite Care is a planned and pre-authorized service. It is NOT an emergency service.

Eligibility

  • Children under age 18, who are receiving behavioral health services and are living with a parent, guardian or in a foster home.
  • Services are provided at no cost to individuals with Medical Assistance.
